It was a sorry sight as we collectively limped / hobbled (read mainly me) on to our early morning bus heading back to El Calafate.
We farewelled El Chaltén passing numerous photographers lined up along the road trying to capture the spectacular shot of the sun rising on the jagged peaks that make up the Fitz Roy Range.
Our beautiful ride back was uneventful except for one Henley induced moment when H's carry on bag with rollers fell off his seat and went within inches of falling down on top of our bus driver (H was in the front seat) sitting below our level - the thought of us ending upside down in a bus in a river cursing Henley did in fact cross my mind !
Back in El Chaltén it was a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine flying the drone by the lake before we headed into town for a much needed dinner.
The following day we flew back on a packed 3 hr flight to Buenos Aires. H's bad luck persisted when he jumped up from his seat into the aisle on disembarkation to grab his carry on bag.
Finding himself unable to open the overhead locker H's patience soon evaporated as did the patience of the passengers trying to get off!
With H Becoming more frustrated by the second I felt he was either a) going to rip off the hatch or b) knock out the closest 5 passengers with a flying elbow if and when the hinge finally opened !
Thankfully for H (and the rest of us) a flight attendant came to Kev's aid and promptly opened the overhead bin apparently caught on a strap !
Our final bit of afternoon entertainment was provided by our taxi driver who demonstrated what driving in Buenos Aires was all about!
Speeding, change of lanes when no space existed, putting on his hazard lights to indicate that he was thinking of turning left or right (he hadn't yet made up his mind) he soon had us back at the Viamonte Hotel where we were greeted by our super friendly front desk attendant Rueben !
After a week in the "quiets of Sthn Patagonia" it was welcome back to the hurly burly of city life !
