| Time to get drenched |
It started off with the "Elephant"story a highlight from our family outing at Disneyworld in 2010. I told the story to Kev indicating that on a wet water ride (with a big rotating rubber tyre) only one person (Monika) seemed to cop a drenching from the autonomous water spouting wildlife !
While the scene 9 years on might just have been a little different - A Water theme park v the raging Iguazú River, a rubber ring V a high speed jet boat - there was still one very nervous Henley sitting roughly where I reckoned the Elephant (read waterfalls) were about to wreak havoc!
Sure enough just 5 minutes into the thrilling ride at the base of the Iguazú falls H got slammed with a big wave. Not being one to hold back I'd just got over laughing when I also got slammed swallowing a fair bit of the Iguazu River - the $7 ponchos that we'd bought to keep us dry were soon going to prove as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike !
After yesterday's tiring effort we were back at it again arriving early at the National Park to beat the crowds and have a go on the highly recommended jet powered speed boats
The price of the 2nd admission was worth it to complete the lower circuit walk (by ourselves) with its stunning panorama of high Octane waterfalls !
With the circuit completed it was time to tackle our Jungle & Jet boat rides with the latter guaranteed to give us a soaking !
Jungle ride over (we did at least see a Toucan!) we battened down the hatches, put all our gear into a waterproof bag and put on our poncho's !
The next 30 minutes were one hell of a buzz ! Bouncing along the raging river at high speed we were soon ready to take on the massive waterfalls !
This was like an amusement ride on steroids as we were blasted by machine gun like spray before being swamped (read me) a number of times as the boat turned in proximity to the thundering falls !
With Henley grinning like a kid at Disneyland and Monika yelling in delight, we went back a 2nd time before swapping the drenching procedure for another waterfall closer to the Brazilian side !
What a blast, surely this is one of the most amazing rides you can do in a natural environment anywhere in the world !
The payment though of course was that we had to spend the next few hours trying to dry out walking around John Wayne like on the Upper circuit now buzzing with thousands of tourists !
With Juan on the spot by 3pm it was time to call it another day leaving us with one final viewing tomorrow from the Brazilian side before we fly back to Buenos Aires and Kev starts his marathon journey (40 hours) home !
