Henley"s Mausoleum !

We fronted for breakfast well rested and almost recovered from the shock of having been offered a King size double bed on arrival finding out not too soon enough that the hotel clerk was pulling our collective legs !

Henley claimed he'd saved me during the night when I badly cramped but I didn't feel in a mood to be gracious having spent an hour in the morning turning the appartment upside down looking for a missing hotel key card !

Deciding the card was lost we headed out on a lovely morning (22C) joining a Free Walking tour starting from the nearby Theatre Colon. Buenos Aires' impressive Opera House.

For the next 3 & 1/2 hours we undertook a crash course in Argentinian History while walking a tiring 5 kms to the Famous Recolleta  Cemetery !

Dictators, war mongers, heroes, politicians and palatial buildings dominated the tour discussion and landscape.

Probably most moving just prior to the cemetery was the wall plaque with the names of the 639 largely young sailors and soldiers who lost their lives during the Falklands war.

Discussion centered around Argentina's military sponsored dictatorships ! The last responsible for the disappearance of over 30,000 people with some of those responsible being tried in court today !

With Kev on the wilt we finally reached Recolleta Cemetery to end our tour.

Thankfully for Kev I was equally knackered but i must admit I was pretty tempted to build him a mausoleum on the spot after he pulled out the missing hotel card that I'd pent the morning looking for from his wallet .. !!!

A quick look around Recolleta showed the cemetery to be an amazing place one which we'll return to in the coming weeks !

With H in charge and recovering from his bruises i'd given him, we made our way back to the hotel by way of a well earned and tasty Argentinian Cappuccino !

A great day to start our trip !
