WOW Day in Iguazu !

In the course of 48 hours we'd journeyed from the Glacial Sth of Patagonia to the steamy jungles of Iguazu in the far north of Argentina bordering Brazil.

Iguazu is of course the home to one of the modern natural wonders of the world the amazing Iguazu Falls.

Thank god for the Air Con which helped us to negate the overnight humidity and thank god for our very own Taxi driver Juan and host Gabriella who were able to point out the nuances of Iguazu, including - which streets were safe to walk down, how we'd get to the falls and how we could all might get Yellow fever (apparently hidden from the tourism info) if we didn't lather up with insect repellent !

With Juan teed up and Monika in charge of picnic supplies, we arrived early at the Iguazu National Park entrance and joined in with the throngs of other tourists to board our train (about the size and make of the one that runs around Caribbean Gardens in Melbourne) on a painstakingly slow 4km journey to the star viewpoint the Devils Throat walkway

This well structured walkway took you right to top of the falls where when enough people got out of the way and the dense mist wasn't dropping precipitation, you got am incredible view of the power of the waterfall and of course nearby Brazil - just a Henley drop punt (in his 20's) away !

With the "Devil" done we took the train back and then embarked upon 2 fabulous walks on the Superior and Inferior trails . Every corner had an "OMG" moment as we viewed many of the 200+ waterfalls that make up this incredible panorama !

We broke up our journey with a picnic lunch and an afternoon "brain freeze" slurpee!

Here H threatened to go a few rounds with the pesky National Park inhabitants the Coates - something like an ant eater with Hugh Jackman like Talons for fingers and feet.. So prevalent are they that some picnic style tables are fully enclosed by wire !

Even Monika got into the action taking on a few threatening ones that were attempting to get into her bag !

We finally completed our 17;000 step journey taking in some final awesome views from the upper level track ,

Juan saved our butts again by dragging our tired bodies back to our apartment in his nice new red Nissan. Finally we can relax, work out how the hell we can toast our bread without a toaster and wash our dishes without a plug or hot water, before recuperating enough to come back again tomorrow !
