The Wind Commeth !

With an afternoon forecast of something just under cyclonic wind strength (gusts of up to 130 kms an hour!) accompanied by torrential rain it wasn't too hard for us to make the choice of a morning climb leaving the warmth of our cozy El Chaltén apartment !

Despite the early cloudy conditions there was enough scenery around to show why El Chaltén is considered one of the premiere trekking destinations in Sth America. The whole town is surrounded by sharp peaks making for an impressive show.

We elected to take the short but steepish Miradores des Condors a walk that starts from the National Park HQ and climbs to provide outstanding views of El Chaltén and its surrounding hills and Mtns.

At the lookout we got a brief glimpse of the afternoons forecast with body slamming wind gusts that made it difficult to hold ones footage on the exposed rocky surface.

Glad to get back down it was time for a coffee in this Wild West looking town a place comprised almost entirely of young looking trekkers.

Our afternoon was predictably spent hunkering down with a good book to avoid the pm downpour / wind blast !
