En Route to Chile !

Heading to Puerto Montt

Approaching Santiago

We'd both thought that after 2 days in Buenos Aires we'd effectively mastered the Argentinian Spanish language ! "Ola, Gracias, Bueno, Maradonna" just to mention a few, but it wasn't until we arrived at BA airport that we realised how little we understood of Sth American language and culture !

At the airport noticing that LATAM had an express bag drop off line we dutifully punched in all our relevant data into a nearby automated kiosk obtaining our boarding passes and baggage labels.

We rejoined the one counter express lane before noticing that after 20 minutes or so that no one else in our queue had done likewise ! In fact what was galling was that those in the non express lane where moving much faster as they had 3 counters open !

It was easy to see why it is recommended that you get to the terminal at least 3hrs before your flight (4hrs in Santiago) when it took us over an hour in the Express lane just to reach the front of the line !

Finally with bags taken and having gone through customs we were queuing for our flight to Santiago when the normally placid H finally snapped yelling out "why isn't this F&$?#ng line moving" ... looking up ahead i replied "because they haven't yet called the flight" !

Descent into Santiago provided some magic glimpses of the Andes before we had to repeat our efforts of clearing customs & checking back in for our domestic leg to Puerto Montt Chile while waiting 5 hours for our flight!

Here in between dozing and dribbling I startled awake at one point jumping to my feet yelling "get that prick" he just stole my charging IPad" !

Scaring the crap out of Henley it took me 10 seconds to realise that I had in fact been dreaming with my charged IPad sitting right beside in my carry on bag !

Another 90 minute flight and a 30+minute car drive and we finally pulled into our lovely German style hotel in Fruitillar Chile pretty damned exhausted after a bloody long day !
